Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how personal data is collected, used and protected when you visit or interact with this website. Where visitors are in the European Economic Area, the GDPR applies. Where other data-protection laws apply based on the visitor's jurisdiction, those protections remain unaffected.

Data collected

When you use the contact form or write to the published email address, the controller may collect your name (if provided), email address and message content. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not used for marketing. For technical operation and security, Squarespace (the hosting provider) may temporarily process your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, and date and time of access. Providing data is voluntary; the only consequence of not doing so is that an enquiry cannot be answered. Please provide only the data necessary for your enquiry, and do not submit special-category data within the meaning of Art. 9 GDPR (for example data concerning health, sexuality, religion or political views) or other highly sensitive information through the contact form or by email. Correspondence may be read, drafted and managed with the assistance of software, including AI-assisted tools, used under the controller's direction; the response, and the decision to send it, remain the controller's. Where such tools involve a processor, appropriate safeguards apply, and personal data contained in your enquiry is not used to train artificial-intelligence models.

Contact form submissions and email correspondence may be retained for up to six months following the conclusion of communication, or longer where a statutory retention obligation applies. Technical server logs may be retained for up to fourteen days. No user accounts, customer profiles or marketing databases are maintained. No newsletter or marketing mailing is operated, and no marketing communications are sent.

Data sharing & processors

Personal data is not sold or rented and is not shared with third parties except as necessary for the technical operation of this website. This website is hosted by Squarespace, which acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR. Links to external social-media profiles (for example Instagram and LinkedIn) are provided for convenience only; those platforms are independent controllers with their own privacy policies, and no social-media tracking is placed on your device by this website without consent.

International transfers

Personal data may be transferred to and processed in the United States by Squarespace, Inc. Such transfers take place on the basis of the European Commission's adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 concerning the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the recipient is certified, and otherwise on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses pursuant to Art. 46 Abs. 2 lit. c GDPR. A copy of the applicable safeguards may be requested using the contact details above.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority competent for this website is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf. That is not the only route open to you: under Art. 77 GDPR you may equally complain to the supervisory authority of the Member State of your habitual residence or place of work, and you are not required to approach the German authority first.

International visitors & other data-protection laws

The rights set out above are applied as a baseline for every visitor, wherever in the world they are, rather than only for those who can compel them. Where the law of your own jurisdiction grants further or different rights — among them the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, the Swiss FADP, the California CCPA/CPRA and comparable United States state laws, PIPEDA in Canada, the Australian Privacy Principles and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, and the LGPD in Brazil — those rights apply in addition, and any request is handled to at least the standard described here.
